Three Hobbies to Make the Most of in the Winter

In the winter months it is important that we get outside and connect with nature. This close connection can have huge benefits for mental health at this time of the year in particular. In the winter, many people are more likely to suffer from poor mental health, and being outdoors is a great way to combat this.

Head to a remote place where the levels of light pollution are lower and take your telescope and you are sure to get some fantastic views of the stars and planets.

Bird Watching – There are many interesting birds to watch over the winter and in fact the lack of leaves on the trees can make this easier! There are also many species which only spend the winter in the UK, heading here from colder areas such as Russia and Scandinavia, so keep an eye out for them.

Foraging – This is a great way to discover the natural bounty available to us as well as spending lots of time outdoors. If you are inexperienced, it is a good idea to go with a knowledgeable guide as this will prevent you accidentally eating anything poisonous.
