Cool facts about air con

Air conditioning has revolutionised the way people live, play, and work. We can now live in the most hostile regions on the globe. Modern medicine has been made possible by it, as have summer blockbuster films, and our lives are healthier because heat waves cause fewer deaths. This technology has changed the way we design and build buildings, conduct business, enjoy holidays and spend free time.

Willis Carrier invented it in 1902

Willis Haviland Carrier was a gifted engineer, who began working on the principles of humidity control to solve an issue in a Brooklyn printing plant in New York. He built the first practical air conditioner in 1902. Carrier’s air conditioner circulated the air in coils submerged under cold water to remove moisture and regulate the room’s humidity.

Originally, ACs were invented to help dry out ink

Willis Carrier created it to stop paper from contracting and expanding, and to make sure that ink could dry faster with no smudging due to the high levels of humidity.

After a successful system was developed to control humidity, the inventor continued working on the device to improve it and then marketed it as “apparatus to treat air”.

First domestic air conditioners were huge and costly

The first air conditioner for the home was installed in 1914. It measured more than seven feet in height. Residential air conditioners were only affordable by the very wealthy.

Prior to recent technological advances, most people couldn’t afford an air conditioner. In the 1970s, central air conditioners became more popular. In America, air conditioning is in 90% of homes. For Air con Stroud, consider https://acecc.co.uk

AC is a major factor in improving human longevity

The use of air conditioning is associated with a longer lifespan. Harvard University conducted a study that found, in the 1990s, those living in areas with an average temperature of 75 degrees or higher lived longer than people who resided in cooler regions.

Air conditioning made it possible to inhabit regions that were previously uninhabitable. Before air conditioning, people could not thrive in areas outside tropical climates because of heat stress or other problems brought on by the hot weather.

Air conditioners change how we design buildings and homes. They allow for more flexibility in the architecture of our houses, as there is no longer a need to use large windows or doorways. Instead, you can just install an AC unit!

The air conditioner has changed how we build architecture

High-rise buildings can now be built because central cooling systems are used instead of individual units for each office or apartment. It allows us to use energy more efficiently and with less waste.
